Perry Sands
2004, Industry
Obsessed with perfection, Perry has a keen sense for machinery and an
ability to push the envelope of manufacturing. Always an innovator, Perry
established the first in-house testing facility in the US wheel and brake
aftermarket.
In the late 1960's custom hungry Southern California bikers couldn't just call up
a mail order company and request a hardtail with a 4" stretch and a 43 degree
rake. They had to do it themselves or turn to Perry Sands. Perry has never
been afraid to take a torch to a pristine knucklehead and kick it out a few
degrees. But, the biggest mark Perry left on the motorcycle industry was his
disc brake systems, which became the defacto standard for any well-sorted
custom.
Experimenting with some of the available aftermarket disc brakes, Perry quickly
realized that nothing on the market lived up to his standards. Today, the presence
of his product on highend bikes persists.
His continual involvement in racing has contributed to the growth and development
of the Performance Machine product line. Perry's unwavering enthusiasm for all things
two wheeled, and fast, has driven him to focus his efforts on drag racing, dirt track
and even road racing.
Today, Performance Machine is heavily involved in the art of going fast. They
continue to sponsor many of the major players in the various racing disciplines.
Their 90,000 square foot high-tech compound is wired for sound, video and state-of-the-art
manufacturing. The race and custom arena has been forever bettered by the presence of
Perry Sands and Performance Machine.
