Paul’s career started in 1965 in Pittsburgh, PA. where he worked as a mechanic in a cycle shop. In 1968 he became General Manager of the shop. Later in 1968 he purchased his first shop in Pennsylvania with a partner.
In 1970 Paul became the National Director of racing and manufacturing for Yankee and Ossa Motorcycle in New York. From 1971-72 he served on the AMA Competition Congress. He held three different positions with Cycle Guild Magazine including engineering editor. In 1974 he became the editor of several magazines.
In 1984 Paul went to work for Cycle World in California and is still there today. He is now the Vice President, Editorial Director.
Paul’s motorcycling experience includes professional flat track racing, which he started in 1966. From 1966-68 he also rode enduros, including Jack Pine. In 1974 he raced motocross and was the primary tester for Cycle World. In 1978 he was a professional road racer. He was 37 years old at the time and continued until the age of 52.
Paul and his teammates set a 24-hour speed record for FIM in Texas in 1985.
In 1989 Paul served on the Board of Trustees for the American Motorcycle Association, then served as Chairman of the Board for six years. He’s also served on the Paradoma Pro-racing board since 1988.
