Joe Parkhurst

Joe Parkhurst began his career in 1948 as an artist for Walt Disney Studios and later with Capital Records. After a tour of duty in the Army, Joe became the art director for Road & Track magazine. From there he took on the task as art direcor for Karting World and helped the publisher launch Cycle World as its first editor. In 1962 Joe purchased the magazine and began Parkhurst Publishing. Although the company was sold to CBS in the early 70's, Joe continued on as publisher of Cycle World until 1977. In 1979 he began Motorcycle Business Newsletter. Beyond his career as a publisher, Joe served two terms as an AMA Trustee and received the Motorcycle Industry Council's Key Award in 1989. Sadly, Mr. Parkhurst passed away in December, 2000, after an ongoing battle with cancer.
