Dave Perewitz
2003, Industry
Dave Perewitz, designer of the Right Drive 250, has been
custom-building bikers' dreams from the ground up at Cycle
Fabrications for 30 years.
A perfectionist in all aspects of his creations, Dave learned about
motorcycles while messing around with his faters bikes when he was
a child. Today, part mind-reader, part psychotherapist, Dave appears
to have the uncanny ability to understand his clients' deepest
longings. Then, also part magician, he has the uncommon ability to
create pure perfection in custom design. Often called "Art in Motion,"
his creations have appeared on over 100 covers of motorcycling
magazines, the distallation of hopes, dreams and incredible artistry.
Perewitz/Cycle Fabrications, based in Brockton, Massachusetts, has
been a family business from its inception. Dave's parents assisted
in the early years while today, wife Susan, son Jesse, and daughters
Jody and Jaren run the day to day operations. Even the family pooches,
Smitty and Sebago, play a rold - in "public relations". The family
gives back to the industry by organizing a Fall Foliage Run for
Charity (now in its fifth year) that has raised over $69,000 for the
Floating Hospital Children's Cancer Center in Boston.
Forever enthusiastic about his motorcycle projects, Dave has developed
Perewitz Signature Series custom parts and accessories. When engineer
Bert Baker came to Dave with the idea of a right-side drivetrain
5-speed transmission to accommodate custom riders' desire for bigger
tires, it ignited Perewitz's imagination, which gave birth to a
low-slung bike with a 107 cubic inch engine and 10-inch thick tires
- the Right Drive 250.
Always ahead of the pack, his fire and passion creating dream
machines on wheels, Dave Perewitz has left an indelible mark on the
motorcycling industry.
