You’ve seen them on the evening news…America’s bikers roaring up Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. They are riding to make their position known on certain issues, and usually leading the pack is the respected Senator from Colorado - and proud Harley owner - Ben Nighthorse Campbell.
A member of the U.S. Senate since 1992, Ben Nighthorse Campbell is the first American Indian to serve in the Senate in more than 60 years. A member of 4 key Senate committees, Campbell has also been the recipient of the Golden Bulldog Award for his efforts to eliminate government waste and reduce the deficit.
On the Senate floor, he has led the fight to strike provisions that impose sanctions on states without mandatory helmet laws, prohibit insurance companies from discriminating against motorcycle riders, and spoken out about the misuse of tax dollars being used to lobby in favor of helmet laws. His other interests have included protecting the land, environment and agriculture, working for a balanced budget, improving transportation, education and health care, fighting taxes and crime.
As a veteran and member of the Senate Veteran’s Affairs committee, Ben has introduced legislation giving foreign nationals incentive to return surviving American POW/MIA’s to the United States.
Whether on the Senate floor, or his motorcycle, Ben Nighthorse Campbell is a leader for the future of all Americans. Ben was nominated by Chuck “Batman” Cavanaugh.
